The School of Journalism and Communication at Renmin University of China was founded in 1955. After sixty-seven years of development, it has become a nationally acclaimed institution for journalism and communication education, a leader in education reform and innovation, and an important platform for global journalism and communication education exchanges and cooperation. In the past two decades, the Journalism and Communication Discipline has been persistently ranked No. 1. by the Ministry of Education of China.
Currently the school has five departments, with a comprehensive talent training system covering undergraduates, masters, and doctoral degrees with more than 1000 students as of December 2022. It offers English-based courses at the BA, MA and PhD levels and promotes studying abroad for both undergraduate and graduate students. It has joint-degree and exchanging programs with more than a dozen world-renowned university and research institutions overseas in the US, Canada, Russia, Britain, Germany, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, etc.
It now has 67 faculty members, whose focal areas of research include journalism history and theory, communication theory, visual communication, new media, international communication, media economics and management, advertising, intercultural communication, audio-visual communication, environmental communication and public diplomacy. The school is committed to building a platform for academic and cultural exchanges at home and abroad. The school is currently accepting applications for BA, MA and Ph.D studies for students all over the world.
